We are a community in New York City dedicated to the teaching of the traditional tenets of Zen in a modern context specifically for our time and culture. We promote the practice of clear mind through the regular hosting of Zen ceremony, dharma teachings, Zen meditation meetings, and other edifying contemplative activities such as Zen tea ceremony.
Our events are open to the general public regardless of age, ethnicity, sex/gender identity, sexual orientation, educational background, nationality, immigration status; religious, spiritual, or faith affiliations; physical and mental ability, or any other criteria.
We are affiliated to the Five Mountain Zen Order, which represents the Korean Soen lineage of Zen Master Seung Sahn Dae Jong Sa and also the Vietnamese lineage of Ven. Dr. Thich Thien-An.

How could I relieve the suffering I've never met?
How could I shine sunlight over hearts without having scalded my feet on the sun?…
"The principle of chanoyu is the spirit of harmonious blending of Heaven and Earth and provides the means for establishing universal peace. People of the present time have turned it into a mere occasion for meeting friends, talking of worldly affairs, and indulging in palatable food and drink…"
If cherry blossoms
One day ceased to exist
In this world of ours...
Without understanding correct direction, even our best intentions can keep us trapped blindly inside a cycle of suffering for ourselves and others, often without being able to see it ourselves.
